In Association with Dialexa EDU
I had the opportunity to work with Dialexa as a designer on the representative team from UNT to create a system that “brings together the local Dallas community”.
Workshops
Over the 7 week timespan, the team participated in 5 design workshops.
We conducted an Innovation Model Canvas, Business Model Canvas, “How Might We”, Crazy 8s, and Prioritization Roadmap.
These helped us generate realistic ideas, identify ways to make the product commercially successful, and narrow down functionality based on how much time we had left in development.
IA Schematic
We created the Information Architecture to show how the 4 main functions of the system (user Onboarding, a live Hotspot Map, local Events, and Filtered Content) operated in relation to each other and to the home page in an effort to remove redundancies without making everything needlessly complex.
Wireframes and Style Guide
In the drafting of our Wireframes we took inspiration from the layouts of event planning and music apps, with imagery carrying a heavier informational load than text and categories are separated using a vertical structure.
Our Style Guide sought 2 things: to be readable from small and large sizes, and to embody a uniquely Dallas experience. Rubik’s small modulation and slightly taller X-heights made it a perfect choice, and the color palette was pulled from iconic Dallas landmarks and scenery.
Development
Prototype 1
Though early in development and derived from our Wireframes, the first prototype provided a strong base going forward.
Prototype 2
We adopted a more angular theme to differentiate interactable buttons from the more organic imagery.
Prototype 3
A shift to a simpler color scheme and heavier use of implied line for legibility and the incorporation of our illustrations brought The Bottom Line to what it is today.

Final
The final product blends modern dynamic linework with an organic Dallas experience to create a system with the potential to change the lives of Dallasites for the better.
